The Obamas clearly either do not understand the value of a dollar – or understand it all too well when someone else is picking up the tab. Last week, Judicial Watch released more information from the government about Air Obama.

First up: the controversial Obama family vacation to Africa. This week we released lodging, security, and entertainment expense records from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, revealing that the Secret Service entourage accompanying President Obama and his family during their trip to sub-Saharan Africa from June 27 to July 3, 2013, incurred $2,189,727.60 in lodging, entertainment, and security expenses alone. The records came in response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests filed on July 3, 2013, with the U.S. Secret Service.

According to the Department of Homeland Security documents:

• Secret Service hotel accommodations for the seven-day excursion cost $953,788.18

• Though the Obama family Tanzania safari was canceled shortly before the Obama’s departure for Africa, Secret Service preparations for the safari still totaled $11,525.75In March 2014, Judicial Watch released flight expense records from the U.S. Department of the Air Force, revealing that the Obama family also incurred flight expenses of $8,104,224 for flights to, from, and around Africa during the June-July 2013 trip. The trip totaled 35.5 hours at $228,288 an hour. We got the records through a FOIA request. According to numerous press accounts, the total cost of the Obama family trip was estimated to have cost between $60 million and $100 million.
• From June 27 to July 3, 2013, the Obamas visited three countries in Africa: Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania. According to reports in the Washington Post, in the days leading up to the trip, “One hundred [Secret Service] agents are needed as ‘post-standers’ — to man security checkpoints and borders around the president — in each of the first three cities he visits. Sixty-five are needed to meet up with Obama in Dar es Salaam… In addition, 80 to 100 additional agents will be flown in to work rotating shifts, with round-the-clock coverage, for Obama’s and his family’s security details… ”

There’s a little-known division of the Department of Justice that has been bilking the taxpayers of millions of dollars each year and redistributing it to its political and legal allies, creating costly and wide-reaching regulations without any congressional oversight or public comment and seeking to expropriate private land without compensation.

The name of this division? The Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD).

These revelations come from a new book out today titled “Obama’s Enforcer: Eric Holder’s Justice Department,” authored by the National Review’s John Fund and former presidential appointee to the FEC, counsel to the assistant attorney general for civil rights in the Justice Department and current Senior Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, Hans von Spakovsky.

The ENRD is the division of the DOJ that was responsible for the Gibson Guitar Corporation raid, which as some may recall nominally dealt with the legality of materials imported from Madagascar used in the fingerboards of the company’s guitars, in what appeared to be a politically motivated case. Part of the settlement that Gibson Guitar reached with the DOJ in order to continue as a going concern was to pay out $50,000 to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. The authors write:

“instead of making a payment to the U.S. Treasury Department for the American taxpayer, Justice in essence extorted money from Gibson Guitar to help fund the NFWF, a congressionally created private charity that hands out funds “to some of the nation’s largest environmental organizations, as well as some of the smallest,” according to its own website.

So basically, the Justice Department used its authority to engineer a settlement of government claims requiring the defendant to provide benefits to a private group that was not involved in the lawsuit and was not injured by the defendants’ actions.”

Well in reality he has violated the Constitution in countless ways, he has violated countless laws and regulations passed by congress many of which HE HIMSELF SIGNED INTO LAW, and then there are the dozens of international laws and treaty’s that he has broken and ignored. I mean really where to start?
